On August 3rd Thu and 4th Fri, 2023, the ``11th Marunouchi Customer Service Role-Playing Contest'' was held as an opportunity to show off and demonstrate the standard of customer service required in Marunouchi.
Starting this year, the top winners of this contest will be awarded the title of ``2023 Marunouchi Shopping Association Hospitality Meister'' (commonly known as Maru Star).
As a Mars Star, you will participate in various Events and activities in the Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Otemachi Area and help with PR activities as an influencer.

This time, as the first part of our activities, we will introduce the eight people selected as Marsters♪

      A rich variety of products with a sophisticated interior. And that's where the warmth of both customers and staff is constantly exchanged.

      We receive requests such as, ``Since I am entrusting the job to you, I would like you to serve customers in a short period of time and make custom suits with a high degree of perfection.'' (Of course, a pleasant response is a major premise!)
      I feel that many of the customers at the Marunouchi store have expectations for us sales staff, ``Since we work here, we want us to be professional.'' When we are able to meet such demanding requests, we feel great joy and it also leads to personal growth.

      When I went to Restaurant as a child, I couldn't help but complain that the last dessert was bitter, but without saying a word, I was gently offered another dessert with a smile.

      You can enjoy shopping in a spacious store.
      The store is always filled with fun conversations between customers and staff.

    • What led you to participate in role-playing contests?

      Last year, I participated in the competition for the first time in order to objectively view my customer service and learn about my strengths and weaknesses.
      A year has passed since I won the Excellence Award last year, and I decided to take on the challenge again this year, wanting to test my daily growth and wanting to surpass myself from last year.

    • Please tell me about the most memorable customer service you received.

      A fun conversation that lifts your mood for the rest of the day even after you leave the store will stay in your memory, and every time you see the product, use it, or remember the elation you felt when you purchased it.

    • Please tell us your outlook or what you think will be required in the future in customer service Marunouchi Area.

      My goal is to make my customers feel satisfied and happy beyond their expectations with customer service that only I can do.
      Not only do I want to increase the number of fans of the brand, but I also want to create my own fans and make the sales floor where I work a happy space full of smiles and energy.
      In this era where we live with various advances such as online and AI, we will think about what can only be created by humans and work hard to convey the joy and importance of customer service to the staff around us.

    • What do you like about your store?

      The store is beautifully displayed, has a wide selection of carefully selected wines, and the best part is the friendly staff! While surrounded by wine, you can immerse yourself in the world of wine to your heart's content with a professional.

    • What led you to participate in role-playing contests?

      I wasn't confident in my ability to serve customers, so I decided to participate to see what I needed right now. Also, in order to develop junior staff, I want to review my own customer service and become a senior who can provide good guidance.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

      This was my first customer service competition in my life, so I was the most nervous this year. I also didn't have confidence in my ability to serve customers, so after I finished my performance, I took a shower at home and reflected on myself, but I kept remembering all the things that didn't go well, and I realized how difficult it is to serve customers. However, when my name was called when the winner was announced, I couldn't believe it at first, thinking, "It was me?!" Afterwards, I received feedback from the judges and colleagues, and I became very confident that my customer service had many positive aspects. From that day on, I started to enjoy serving customers every day.

    • Please tell me about the most memorable customer service you received.

      When I visited a certain cafe, I didn't really have a conversation with the staff, but the second time I came to the store, he remembered my face and said, ``Thank you for coming to our store again.'' ” he called out. That alone made me very happy, and I went back many times after that, and when I told him that I really liked the tableware they used, he ordered one for me. I remember the warm customer service that they did for just one person.

      Marunouchi is different from the surrounding areas, where time flows gracefully and slowly. I believe that we need to create a store that allows customers to shop in a relaxed manner, where they can spend time in a leisurely manner and have new encounters and experiences, which can only be found in Marunouchi, as well as courteous and approachable customer service skills that are attuned to the customer's pace.

    • What kind of store (brand) is it?

      This is Steakhouse serves aged meat that was founded in Chicago, USA in 1978.
      There are approximately 70 stores around the world, mainly in the United States, and the Marunouchi store is the only one in Japan.

    • What do you like about your store?

      The interior of the store is made of glass, making it bright and open, and the illuminations look very beautiful at night these days. Morton's main store in Chicago is located underground, so I like that the Marunouchi store has windows so you can feel the four seasons in a Japanese way.
      Another thing is that the staff are friendly!
      We went out for drinks after work, and this year when the building was closed, we went out to eat on a houseboat!

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

      Although it may be unique to Morton's rather than Marunouchi, many customers come here for special occasions and anniversaries, and many of our customers have decided to celebrate their birthday at Morton's.
      They make reservations every year and visit us with their families.
      For children, we are happy to see them grow year by year, and for adults, we have lively conversations such as ``It's already been a year, haven't we?'' and have a great time.

    • What do you want to learn next?

      We have many foreign customers and staff of various nationalities, so I want to do my best to study English so we can communicate.

      Marunouchi is also a business district, so on weekdays it is often used for entertainment, and on weekends it is crowded with families. I would like to have a wide variety of customer service skills that can be adapted to any type of customer, and strive to provide Service that are tailored to each customer.

      The open glass-walled space is filled with imported and original clothing and Miscellaneous Goods, all neatly laid out. I also like that there are fixtures inspired by the Paris Metro, and that you can feel Paris everywhere.

    • What led you to participate in role-playing contests?

      The first time I competed was four years ago, after my childcare leave, I wanted to try something new.
      Role-playing contests are often attended by relatively young staff, but when I saw staff with long sales experience competing, I was very impressed and wanted to try it myself.
      Each time I participate, I want to improve my customer service from the previous year, enjoy customer service and conversation, and want my children to see me working.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

      I am very honored to receive this award. At the time of the contest, I had a lot of things to reflect on, thinking, ``I wish I could listen to more customer stories and share more scenes.'' I would like to face this issue sincerely.
      This year, there were no restrictions and I was able to see other people's customer service, and I was very inspired by seeing the high level of customer service from everyone Marunouchi Area.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

      The other day, I served a customer who was on a business trip from America. I was told that I was having a meeting with executives and chairmen of Japanese companies, and I was asked a variety of questions, such as what kind of clothes in Japan would make a good impression on such superiors, and whether it was okay to wear Accessories. Thank you for your understanding. I once again realized that Marunouchi has a wide variety of customers, and I was very happy that they were trusting me and their store about Japan. I would like to study so that I can respond to more diverse needs.

      Marunouchi is a place with a lot of history, but it's also an area full of new things, and I think it's really nice to see so many people coming here with their families of several generations.
      My own children come here every now and then to see the security robots, so I feel that it is a city that is attractive to children as well.
      Mitsubishi Estate's ``ability to care about people and the ability to care about the city'' has something in common with our idea of building a store, so we need to create a city that is close to our customers and will last for the next generation. I think.

      Of our two stores in Tokyo, our store focuses on traditional American suits and jacket styles.

    • What do you like about your store?

      We have a wide range of items available from casual to dressy styles.
      Also, the location along Nakadori is very nice.

    • What led you to participate in role-playing contests?

      The first time I participated in a role-playing contest was five years ago, when I was working at a Lumine store, I entered to change myself because I was not good at appearing in public.
      Now I have acquired the courage to appear in front of people.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

      I am very happy to be able to win this award again from last year.
      To be honest, I would have liked to win, but the time I spent practicing for the role-playing contest with Mr. Iguchi from BEAMS HOUSE, who won on the same day, and other members of my store was precious.
      I was able to look back on my own customer service, and it was fun to take on new challenges!

      I think that they have product knowledge drilled into their heads as a base, and in addition to that, they have the ability to make suggestions that will help them enjoy shopping in a special place like Marunouchi.

    • What kind of store (brand) is it?

      This is a legwear brand that has been in Marunouchi since Shin-Marunouchi Bldg. opened. This is the first Blondoll directly managed store, with a focus on design and texture so that even adult women can wear them.
      We sell socks, tights, leggings, etc., and customers stop by to buy clothes and shoes. This brand has many items that are perfect for finishing off your outfit, and it's all about the details that show off your sense of style.

    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

      We have customers from all over Japan who are looking for high quality and cute items.
      Recently, designed socks have become very popular among people overseas, and they are also selected as souvenirs. Many of our customers love the atmosphere of Marunouchi, and one of our special features is that some of them stop by while taking a walk.
      We have a lot of elegant customers who are not only interested in Fashion, but also have a fulfilling private life, and it's really fun to hear their stories. Also, since it's a terminal station, I'm happy that there are many people from Tohoku, my hometown.

    • What do you like about your store?

      The reason I decided to join the company 16 years ago was because I thought I would continue to love socks and tights even when I grew up. The things we like and our styles change as we age, but leg items are inseparable from Fashion.
      I love Blondoll, which has a variety of designs that arrive every season, a wide range of items that evolve with the times, and products that always make me excited.
      All of my staff members have so many socks and tights that they feel like their drawers are about to explode, so I love all the staff members who share the same sentiments.

    • What led you to participate in role-playing contests?


      The reason I joined the competition was to make my life more enjoyable.
      We received support from many customers this year as well. The number of customers who are interested in the contest is increasing every year, and we receive many happy comments that bring tears to our eyes, such as ``It always gives me courage,'' ``It makes me want to work harder,'' and ``I love Mr. Okamura's customer service.'' I received it from someone.
      A member of the press told me that when I posted the results of this contest on my company's Instagram Stories, I received the highest number of likes ever. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported us. Thanks to you, I was able to successfully take on the challenge this year and have new experiences.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

      This year I received my fifth trophy. The trophies in Marunouchi are really beautiful, and when the morning sun shines on them, Crystal trophies sparkle and illuminate my room.
      Up until now, every year after the competition I had a self-reflection meeting thinking about what I should have done better, but this year I decided to show my true self and have fun. So, after finishing it, I was able to praise myself for the first time, saying, ``You really did a great job.'' I ended up in 3rd place, but my mindset was completely different from the previous 3rd place finishes, and the happiest part was the experience of realizing that even though we were in the same ranking, my feelings had changed.

      I guess it's the personality of the staff.
      Many of our staff members are excellent in various fields such as character, style, and hobbies.

      It's like I was able to get revenge for last year... but I wasn't able to do it. lol
      I'm very grateful to have won second place, but I still want to aim for victory.

    • Please tell me about the most memorable customer service you received.

      It's not a first class or high class Yakitori restaurant that I'm familiar with.
      Not only the taste, but also the detailed and high-quality attention given to regular customers and first-time customers.
      There are visible differences, not superiority or inferiority, but an exquisite balance of what you understand and what you don't, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere. I always feel the pride and skill of a professional.

    • What do you want to learn next?

      I would like to continue learning so that I can advance as a salesperson.
      Also, since inbound demand is coming back, I would like to learn language related to customer service terms.
