As a Marustar, they are invited to participate in various Events and activities in the Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Otemachi Area for one year, and assist with PR activities as influencers.

This time, we will introduce the five people who placed highly in the top ranks of the 13th Marunouchi Customer Service Role-Playing Contest in 2025 and were selected as Marustars. We asked them to introduce the stores where they work, talk about their impressions of the contest, customer service, and more.

Members Introduction

  • Ms. Bessho's customer service motto is "Conveying Japanese politeness."
    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

The store underwent a renovation in April 2025, and now has a new look. You can leisurely browse all of our products in a bright store filled with natural light.
What I like about the Marunouchi store is the leather-covered counter. It was made by our own craftsmen and is made from a single piece of leather, stretched without any wrinkles, making it incredibly beautiful. I also like how it has aged since the store opened, and the color has gotten darker and darker.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

I was very surprised because I never thought I would win. The practice I did to prepare for the competition while identifying my strengths and weaknesses in customer service has become a valuable asset for me. I have been able to use that practice in my everyday customer service, and I feel that customer service has become even more interesting.

    • Why did you choose the hospitality industry?

I have a great respect for the technical skills of artisans of traditional Japanese crafts, and I chose to work in the service industry because I wanted to convey to customers the high level of skill of these artisans.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

A customer who is being transferred to San Francisco came to choose a bag to use there. We wanted the customer to have a product that they could be proud of being made in Japan, so we listened to the customer's Lifestyle and after a few interviews, the customer was convinced and made the purchase. He returns to Japan about twice a year, and each time he stops by our store to tell us what kind of comments he received from local people, which makes us very happy.
I felt that the fact that a wide range of customers visit the store is a true Marunouchi experience.

    • What does Marunouchi mean to you?

Marunouchi is a city with lots of greenery, even though it's in the city, and I think there are many places where you can take a break and relax.
My favorite place is Nakadori. In the summer, the fresh greenery is so beautiful, and in the winter, the illuminations are so dazzling that just looking at them is soothing.

    • What's your latest obsession?

I've been into mountain climbing for about a year now. Once you've experienced the spectacular views from the ridgeline, you'll find yourself wanting to climb the next mountain, and the next one, so whenever I have the time, I head to the mountains.

  • Momoko Takeda's customer service motto is "Cherish gratitude."
    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

CABaN is a brand launched in 2018 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Tomorrowland.
The owner himself took the helm and the launch took two years of planning.
We offer simple and playful clothing and goods that bring out the individuality of the wearer regardless of gender, age or nationality. Our Marunouchi store is the largest in Tokyo, and is proud to offer a wider range of products to our customers, with a mix of imported and original items.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

I am truly grateful for the opportunities I have had to take on the challenge so many times. Once the contest Period begins, there are training sessions for my company's support team and the shopping district association, and I feel that I am able to participate thanks to the support of so many people.

    • Why did you choose the hospitality industry?

I love Fashion, and originally joined Tomorrowland because I wanted to work in Apparel production. I started out by working in retail stores, and before I knew it, 17 years had passed.
Right now, the shop is the most fun.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

Marunouchi is an office district, so many people drop by during their lunch break and then return at the end of the day. Meeting our customers twice a day makes us happy, as it gives us the feeling of "Thank you for your hard work and welcome home."

    • What does Marunouchi mean to you?

To me, Marunouchi is an image of a relaxed, grown-up town. I didn't understand its appeal when I was younger, but now I feel like my age is catching up with me.
I like the location of Marunouchi-Nakadori Ave.. This is partly because CABaN is located on Nakadori, but also because the green trees lining the street are beautiful and you can feel the changing seasons, so when a nice breeze blows into the store, I feel truly grateful that I get to work here.

    • What's your latest obsession?

It's not exactly my current fad, but I've started taking pictures of the interior of stores and products over the past six months or so.

  • Iguchi Issei's customer service motto: "Forge ahead on your own path"
    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

This shop is based on the concept of Shops for adults who have their own style and actively enjoy Fashion and Lifestyle, and it is committed to providing high-quality products and customer service.
It may seem intimidating, but if you have your own style and thoughts about how you want to look or appear, I think it will be easier to enjoy it.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

Starting with a special award, then runner-up, winner... and this year's third place.
I have received almost every award in the last four years.
I had never heard of someone winning two years in a row, so I was excited to do it again this year, but I was once again reminded of the high level of the Marunouchi tournament.

    • Why did you choose the hospitality industry?

I originally worked part-time in Apparel, and even back then I found customer service (Apparel) to be fun.
I actually have a teaching license, but as I thought about my future, I realized that I would rather work in the service industry than as a teacher.
There are many different jobs in Apparel, but I would like to continue working in customer service as a clothing store clerk for the rest of my life.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

The Marunouchi store is one of the most visited BEAMS stores, with many customers familiar with both clothing and shopping.
Because we deal in classic clothing, we have the opportunity to learn from customers about knowledge and insights about clothing from the past that I was not aware of.
Perhaps it is only because of Marunouchi that I have been able to improve my level.

    • What does Marunouchi mean to you?

It's a very fashionable town, so some people may feel intimidated or nervous, but I would encourage those people to visit again and again. The more you get to know it, the more comfortable and familiar you will feel.
Even just taking a stroll down Nakadori Street will yield many discoveries.

    • What's your latest obsession?

My life's work is pro wrestling, alcohol, and Travel.
These three things are essential in life.
However, the only thing I can share with my wife is Travel lol
This year I also went to Okinawa.

  • Norio Morikawa's customer service motto: "Provide customer service that remains as an experience"
    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

This year marks the 18th anniversary since the bar opened in 2017. Based on classic German beers, you can also enjoy seasonal limited edition beers. The interior of the bar is inspired by Oktoberfest, Germany's biggest beer Events, and just being there makes you feel excited. I really like that atmosphere.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

When I received the award, I was both happy and scared. I still wonder if I was worthy of receiving the award, and I thought about it quite seriously immediately afterwards. But now I have honestly accepted the recognition and have returned to my roots, using it as a driving force to continue to provide our customers with a comfortable space, even if it is just a little.

    • Why did you choose the hospitality industry?

I started my career in customer Apparel in the apparel industry. My love for clothes was stronger than anything else, so at first my customer service was self-centered and focused on explaining the products. One day, the store manager at the time harshly criticized me, saying, "Your customer service seems to be trying to drive customers away." This made me start thinking about customer service, and I feel like I'm still exploring its depth to this day.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

When I was getting a customer to sign a credit card receipt at checkout, I was busy and didn't have my own ballpoint pen on hand, so I ended up asking the customer to sign with a cheap ballpoint pen that was nearby. The customer was very nice, but he kindly pointed out to me, "Your customer service was good, but this pen ruins everything. If you want to take pride in your work, you need a better pen." Since then, I've made sure to always carry my own ballpoint pen with me.

    • What does Marunouchi mean to you?

When I was young, I loved glamorous places like Shibuya and Shinjuku, and would go there almost every week. My image of Marunouchi at the time was the complete opposite, and I only thought of it as Japan's number one business district.
Since I started working here, I have become proud of the sophisticated and charming city that we can be proud of on a global level.
My favorite place is the illuminated Marunouchi Station building at Tokyo Station. As a country bumpkin, looking at it makes me feel like I'm really living in Tokyo, and it inspires me to keep going even when things get tough.

    • What's your latest obsession?

I'm currently hooked on snowboarding. Last year, I was decluttering my room and pulled out my snowboard set from the depths of my closet for the first time in a long time.
When I was in college, I was so into snowboarding that I would go alone more than 20 times in one season, but after I started working, I stopped snowboarding after a blunder that resulted in me hitting my face hard while snowboarding, breaking my nose, and having to take a week off work.
I thought maybe it was about time to stop, so I went back last year for the first time in years and ended up getting hooked again.
However, I'm an adult now, so I'll try to do it in moderation and not push myself too hard. I'm looking forward to winter again this year!

  • Honda Yuya's customer service motto: "Deliver invisible feelings in the form of objects."
    • Please tell us about the characteristics of the Marunouchi store.

kuzuryu soba is one of the few restaurants in Tokyo that serves Local Cuisine from Fukui Prefecture.
Overlooking Tokyo Station, the gateway to Japan, the restaurant combines modernity and nostalgia, reflecting the owner's feelings and dedication to Fukui Prefecture, his hometown. Guests can enjoy not only the restaurant's specialty Soba, but also Japanese Cuisine made with seasonal ingredients.
The wide variety of sake they carry and the exceptional grated daikon radish Soba, which are perfectly combined with the dashi broth, are some of their proud points, allowing you to feel like you Travel to Fukui even while in Tokyo.

    • Please tell us your thoughts on participating in (and winning) the role-playing contest.

I have rarely received any awards since becoming an adult, so I felt both joy and a sense of freshness.
Our store has only been in Marunouchi for a short time, so we hope that this will be an opportunity to raise awareness even a little.
Also, the enthusiasm and personalities of the participants, which I felt because I participated, and the people who supported me were all very charming, and I have come to really like the Marunouchi area.

    • Why did you choose the hospitality industry?

My first part-time job was at a restaurant, and the encounter I had with Japanese Cuisine Cuisine there is the reason why I continue to work in the service industry.
I can't thank him enough for teaching me that "the job of Service is to provide 100% Cuisine at 120% in an environment where the person who cooked Cuisine cannot directly serve it to the customers." This meeting has broadened the scope of my relationships ever since.

    • Please tell us about the customer service that is unique to Marunouchi.

Perhaps it's because I have many opportunities to interact with Travel. In particular, I'm impressed by situations where customers come to try Soba for the first time in Japan.
I used to work at a facility that accommodated overseas guests, so I always find myself chatting away, thinking it's a good opportunity to share the appeal of Japanese Cuisine. Maybe I just love to talk, though (laughs).

    • What does Marunouchi mean to you?

To me, Marunouchi is a city where many passionate people work, even if they don't show it in public.
I think it's a space that is dignified yet where warm-hearted people gather.
The places I recommend are all the stores where the people I met during this role-playing contest work. In fact, I went to quite a few stores before and after the training Period for the contest (laughs).
Not only Marunouchi Bldg., but also Nakadori Building, Shin-Shin-Marunouchi Bldg., Shin-Tokyo Bldg., and Otemachi Bldg. are all fascinating places with so many wonderful people.

    • What's your latest obsession?

It's not something I've been doing recently, but I've been involved in the tea ceremony for a long time, ever since I was young.
It helps you develop your aesthetic sense, and the profound world with no end goal gives you new insights every time.
Now that I've been able to invite friends from overseas to tea parties and tea ceremony experience sessions, I think it would be great to expand the scope of my activities even further in the future.

Please look forward to future activity reports such as various PR activities in the Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Otemachi Area ♪
