Author's comment

It depicts the quiet rotation of everyday life.
Our lives, which are surrounded by order and repetition, begin to look playful with the slightest difference.

Judge's review

The motifs that appear in Masutani's works are hanging leather, scarves, and other everyday materials, and the spaces in which they are placed are reminiscent of, for example, the inside of a car on the way to work or school. However, there are no so-called pictorial themes to be found here, and each motif seems to be playing a decorative role. The aim here seems to be to actually make the center of the screen empty, giving each motif an equivalent meaning and eliminating the hierarchy of center and periphery. (Taro Amano)
