Picture crying on my behalf 2014 2273 × 3636 × 30 mm Canvas, oil, crayon, pencil

Author's comment

This picture is a gentle picture that makes me cry on behalf of other people.
I have the feeling that I am standing alone in front of a large white wall and drawing a picture using nearby sticks, stones, my own fingernails, etc.

Judge's comment

It is said that the artist hated his own paintings, so he cut up many of his paintings and threw away the parts he didn't like. When I suddenly came back to my senses and put the remaining fragments together and arranged them, I was relieved to see that the essence of what I had wanted to depict came to light. That is what this work is. As a result, I feel that the extreme sense of evidence that he created his own work using his own work as material has been reversed and brought to the surface. I see potential in that process. (Mitsuru Kuramoto)
