Yu Akashi ART AWARD TOKYO 2008 Second Grand Prix

Participating in AAT2008

I think it was important that I was able to make connections with many friends and people in the art world that went beyond my connections at university. Opportunities like this are extremely valuable, as they are extremely rare in some cases.

Until then, I thought it would be fine as long as I could continue creating, but when a lot of people put my work in a shop window like that, I want to show it well if possible, and I think that's what people want to see. I'm also curious. Produce by yourself. I can't show it to anyone. I feel like my perspective and perspective have expanded a little. I had many good encounters and had a great experience. Daisuke Sumita ART AWARD TOKYO 2008 participation

Participating in AAT2008

I think this was the kind of place that gave me clues to think deeply about what position my creations would be placed in society, and what kind of words they could be used for.

Activity status after AAT2008

Since AAT, I have continued to work in my atelier, working with the management of a gallery that approached me for my graduation exhibition.
Last year was spent getting the production environment set up, so I wasn't able to create much, but I was selected to be featured in Opera City Art Gallery's ``N Project 39'' in October 2009. I didn't speak directly to Shihoko Iida when I was at AAT, but she saw my work there and that gave me an opportunity.
I am aware of the hardships of painting after leaving school, but I believe that the reason I decided to continue painting was because I submitted my work to AAT and received encouragement from various people. I am. thank you very much.
