The "Portsmouth" has been available since the launch of the British Made Men's Collection and is now a hit item that represents the collection. At first glance, it may look like a basic pair of pants, but it is a pair that stylist Shikata's attention to detail is condensed into every detail.

Not as slim as Italian dress pants, but not as wide as designer pants. This piece was born from the pursuit of a silhouette that is "not as common as it seems." The image source for this piece was the officer pants used by the Royal Navy in the 1960s. Although they were military wear, they had a distinctive silhouette that exuded elegance.

Taking that balance into consideration, the silhouette is set to a modern tapered style. Furthermore, we commissioned a skilled factory that produces authentic dress pants to produce the pants, and paid particular attention to the finest details.

The pants on the left use the "Supersonic" fabric by Vitale Barberis Canonico. It is a wool that combines a high-quality feel with a British firmness, and is a functional material that is also wrinkle-resistant. The pants on the right are made of cotton drill material, which was created by analyzing vintage chinos. One of the appealing features is that the material ages beautifully as you wear it. The wool pants also have belt loops, making them suitable for business use.

Here is the coordination that Shikata came up with using the wool "Portsmouth."

"I've explained that styling a navy jacket with off-white instead of pure white will give it a more modern feel, but off-white goes well with not only navy but also gray. That said, even here, the tone is important. If you pair it with a very dark gray, the contrast will be too strong and the softness of the off-white will not come out. Pairing it with a medium gray like this will give it a modern impression.

The appeal of the off-white and medium grey outfit is that it gives off an urban and sophisticated impression. This outfit is made up of flight jackets, a "Leaming" sweatshirt, and "Portsmouth" officer pants, all of which are items with a bold background, but the gentle tones based on neutral colors give it a mature look.

"I've coordinated the pants with a navy shirt that's almost the same color, for a minimalist spring/summer style. The key here is matching the texture of the material. Rather than combining items with similar textures, I decided to vary the texture of the material because it's the same color, which will give a mature impression.

In this outfit, the pants are made of thick cotton drill, so a light material for the shirt goes well with it. This one is made of cotton, linen, and polyester, and has a thin and fluffy texture. This contrast adds depth to the styling. Another point is that by incorporating a light material for the top, you can create a spring/summer feel despite the dark tones.
