GOOD DESIGN Marunouchi will hold a special exhibition "Living with Forms" from Sat, June 7th to Sat 2025.
This exhibition will feature 88 selected items with a focus on shape and texture from the Japan Design Promotion Organization's (JDP) collection of designs that have won the Good Design Award, Long Life Design Award, and other awards from the 1950s to the 2010s.
We live together with many different shapes and forms.
Functional shapes that allow us to do something, exciting colors and shapes, shapes and textures that give us a sense of comfort, shapes that unite the hearts of many people...Even as times and society change, the colors, shapes and textures that we use give us a variety of experiences and emotions every day.
What sensations and emotions do you evoke from the shapes and textures of the 88 pieces of tableware, cooking and daily necessities, Furniture, home appliances, and stationery on display?
Please take your time to look, touch and experience it.
About the Good Design Award and the Long Life Design Award
The Good Design Award was established in 1957 to recognize designs that improve life and society.
The definition of "good design" varies depending on the era, place, and subject, but the Good Design Award considers "good design" to be one that has "honesty," "humanity," "innovation," "aesthetics," and "ethics."
The Long Life Design Award is given to products and Service that have been on the market for 10 years or more and that have been supported by people for a long time, become a standard, and honor the designs and their designers that we hope will continue to exist unchanged into the future, from the perspectives of "innovativeness," "reliability," "universality," "standards," and "future potential."
