Mizusawa Down
This is the source of Descente Allterrain.
This single garment has given birth to an entire category, making it a unique piece even within the Descente brand. This highly functional down jacket, which combines sophisticated technology with a striking minimalist appearance, is a techwear creation born from the specialized techniques and accumulated know-how of the Descente Apparel Mizusawa Factory (formerly Mizusawa City, Iwate Prefecture (now Oshu City)), which has a unique integrated downwear production system in Japan.
The development of Mizusawa Down began with an approach to solving the problem of down jackets, such as the loss of heat retention when water seeps in through the seams and the feathers get wet. By using a special heat-pressing technology to form the down pack, seams are eliminated, and seam tape is applied to the back of areas that require sewing, such as the sleeves, creating new value for down jackets in the form of "waterproof" and "water-resistant" properties.
From cutting, forming the down pack, heat pressing and stuffing, every step is done by experienced craftsmen.
Mizusawa Down, named after the factory, has offered functionality that sets it apart from previous down jackets since its launch in 2008, and continues to evolve thanks to the support of fans around the world.
