Light in Edo Daimaru-Yu

The Daimaru Area Management Association, Otemachi/Marunouchi/Yurakucho District Machizukuri Council, and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. will hold the "Hikari to Edo" event in Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho Area (hereafter "Daimaru area"), a former daimyo's residence, to shed "light" on the memories and history of Edo and update the traditional Events The event will be held from January 9, 2025, Thu to March 7, 2025, Fri, Period.

01. Gyoko-dori Ave. (※Finished)

A sky-filled view of Edo

Date and time: {1} Fri, January 17th, 17:00-21:00 {2} Sat, January 18th -Sun, January 19th, 11:00-21:00 * {1} The Japanese umbrellas will be lit from around 17:15 due to a ceremony Events * {2} The Japanese umbrellas will be lit from 17:00 Contents: With the red brick Tokyo Station building as a backdrop, Gyoko-dori Ave. will be decorated with 250 three-dimensional Japanese umbrellas, creating a timeless scene where Edo and modern times blend together.

Lighting Ceremony and Opening Ceremony Events (※Finished)

To commemorate the lighting of the Japanese umbrella illuminations, a performance stage featuring Japanese dance and traditional Japanese musical instruments will be held following the lighting ceremony.
Next to the illuminations, there will be an opportunity to experience making a Japanese umbrella, a photo spot with a Japanese umbrella, and food trucks offering Edo-style sweets.
Date and time: Fri, January 17th, 17:00-17:25 *The mayor of Chiyoda Ward and other guests are scheduled to attend. Location: Special stage Gyoko-dori Ave. (Marunouchi side of Tokyo Station) *The event will be suspended or canceled in the event of rain.

Before and after the lighting ceremony, there will be a performance stage of traditional Japanese performing arts by the team "REI," which is made up of Japanese dance, shamisen, koto, flute, and musical instruments.

You can experience making a Japanese umbrella using bamboo under a lecture by a Japanese umbrella lighting maker (Shonan Wagasa Eiyuu).

There will be a photo spot where you can borrow an authentic Japanese umbrella and take your time taking photos with Japanese umbrella lighting and Tokyo Station in the background.
Between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace, you can take some fantastical photos that can only be seen in the OMY area.

02. Marunouchi-Nakadori Ave. (※Finished)

Edo Domain Residence Middle Street

Date and time: January 9th Thu to January 31st Fri *Lanterns will be lit from 16:00 to 23:00 Content: To let people know about the existence and history of the feudal lord families who actually had their mansions at the locations of the buildings on Marunouchi-Nakadori Ave. at the time of the final Meiji Restoration in the Edo period, the family crests will be displayed on the street lamp flags at those locations, and the aim is for passersby to discover traditional Japanese colors and sophisticated Japanese pattern motifs. This project offers the enjoyment of learning about historical memories that have disappeared over time in the modern cityscape.

03. Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery (※Finished)

Japanese Light Path

Date: February 1st Sat- February 28th Fri Content: Japanese umbrellas, bamboo crafts, and lanterns are displayed in a row in the windows of the 220m-long "Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery" located in front of Tokyo Station. The colorful Japanese umbrella lighting and lanterns create a Japanese atmosphere in a modern, functional urban space, creating a scene that soothes the hearts of busy people. 04. Otemachi Area Exhibition

日  時:3月3日(月)~3月7日(金) ※3月3日(月)~3月5日(火)は屋内展示  3月6日(水)~3月7日(金)は屋内外展示 ※点灯17:00~21:00 ※雨天・強風の場合はビル屋内展示のみ。3月5日(水)は天候により、ビル屋内のみの展示に変更となりましたので、ご注意ください。 内  容:桜や花柄を模した和傘イルミネーション演出を行い、春の訪れを感じさせる色彩を大手町エリアの各所で展開。和傘が織りなす日本の伝統美とビル街の不思議な調和を、大手町仲通りに創出します。
実施場所の詳細は以下のマップをご参照ください。

イベント詳細:
●3月5日(水)に和傘職人による和傘製作体験を実施予定。
(参加無料/18:30、19:30の2回実施、同内容で各回45分程度/天候により和傘製作体験はフィナンシャルシティ アトリウム空間で実施します ※各回先着12名)

●期間中無料の和傘フォトサービスを以下の会場で実施予定。
・3月3日(月)~3月4日(火)13:00~18:00(ビル屋内:大手町タワー、Otemachi One 地下2大階段下会場のみ)
・3月5日(水)17:00~21:00(ビル屋内:調整中)※天候によりビル屋内に変更しておりますので、ご注意ください。詳細は追って更新します。
