Reaching out to a world no one has seen before and facing questions that cannot even be put into words - Tohoku University, which puts research first, has been pursuing knowledge for over 100 years. Last year, it was recognized as the first International University of Excellence in Research, and is embarking on further challenges as a research hub open to the world.

At this Events, we will explore the romance of knowledge that has been cultivated in Tohoku over its long history, and consider the intellectual landscape that Tohoku University envisions today together with many people from across disciplines, generations, and regions.

We will explore the intellectual DNA that has been passed down to Tohoku University through the words left behind by our predecessors. We will also introduce an overview of Tohoku University, which was recognized as the first International University of Excellence in Research.
