Discover new perspectives through art! Tokyo University of the Arts is now accepting applications for its adult education course, "Yurakucho Geidai Campus."

The "Yurakucho Geidai Campus" series of lectures, which aims to generate innovative perspectives through art in cities, society, businesses, and individual lifestyles, will begin again this year!

01. What is the Yurakucho Geidai Campus?

"Yurakucho Geidai Campus" is a series of courses for working professionals Venue in Yurakucho, a business district, and taught by faculty members and guest lecturers from Tokyo University of the Arts.
This project aims to cultivate coordinators who can bridge the gap between art and society, and is implemented through a collaboration between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Tokyo University of the Arts, and Yurakucho Art Urbanism (YAU).

The program offers both practical sessions that cultivate a critical perspective on society, encourage thinking and expression, and lecture-based sessions that provide cutting-edge intellectual learning. Both programs are attended by current art university students and working professionals.
Our aim is for the learning gained through classes to be accumulated and applied to society, business, and individual lifestyles, while also being put into practice in an organic and flexible way that connects with various phenomena in the community.

This program is open to people from all backgrounds, including those who want to explore new worlds, those who are unsure about their careers or lifestyles, those who feel constrained by society, and those seeking innovative ideas in their work.

01: "Art Research Workshop (Lecture)" - Learning insights into art x research from diverse case studies.

By inviting leading Artist as guests and offering a glimpse into the world of "art x research," we will explore hints for thinking about "research" not merely as information gathering, but in a more imaginative and creative way.
The distinguished guest lecturers include Koki Tanaka (Artist), Fuyuki Yamakawa (Artist), Ryuta Imafuku (cultural anthropologist and troubadour), Shiori Watanabe (contemporary artist), and others.

03: Considering various issues surrounding the archiving of creative expression: "Creative Archive Study Group - Rights, Ethics, and Economics for Archives"

Archiving arts and culture, which is closely intertwined with individual expression, requires multifaceted and immense practice, including handling complex rights issues, grappling with ethical dilemmas, and building relationships with the market. We will discuss the current state and possibilities of archives with Artist and researchers, and consider their significance.

05: "Exhibition Design Workshop" - Experience the planning, production, and operation of an exhibition.

Through exhibition visits and city walks, participants will learn the necessary knowledge about exhibition planning and production, and gain practical experience in curation, which connects art with real society, through the process from planning and production to operation.

In an era where art and politics are intricately intertwined, how can we appreciate works of art? This course aims to help students acquire an attitude for appreciating the relationship between art and politics through research, writing, and dialogue with guest lecturers, based on examples of research and expression.

07: "Art Projects for Social Inclusion - Music x Physical Expression x Welfare - (Practical Session)" - A simulated experience of running an art project.

From the perspective of social inclusion, students will practically learn about art projects that transcend fields such as music, physical expression, and fine arts.
You will experience the process of bringing your project to life, including Shops and meetings with Artist.
This is a valuable opportunity to experience the essence of art projects, something that cannot be grasped through theory alone.
