01. Message from Organizer
Atsushi Nakajima (President and CEO, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd.)
Mitsubishi Estate's basic mission is to contribute to society through urban development, and all employees work together to create new towns.
In 2022, we signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement with Tokyo University of the Arts, and are strengthening our industry-academia collaboration efforts by sharing the philosophy of enhancing individual creativity through the power of art, promoting the creation of new industries, and contributing to solving social issues both domestically and internationally.
Through Geidai Arts Inn Marunouchi, we hope to deepen the diversity of Marunouchi, create new value, and create an even more attractive urban area by leveraging the power of young Artist and collaborating with local employees.
Katsuhiko Hibino (President of Tokyo University of the Arts)
Humans live in connection with various things. Art is not created simply by having a so-called studio. Art is born from the relationships between all kinds of things, such as the building, the area in which the building stands, the history of the area, and the people who work in the area. At Geidai Arts Inn Marunouchi, we are conscious of everything that society encompasses, and we believe that we can convey messages through art and send them from Marunouchi to the world. Art is often thought of as something that is "highly specialized" or "not very relevant to everyday life," and people often say that they are "not good at art." However, art is not a skill or a way of doing things, but a moving phenomenon. Art can connect all people and all fields. We believe that it is important to send such messages through collaboration with companies and local communities, which will greatly change people's stereotypes and preconceptions.
