15 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake: Photojournalism exhibition conveying the progress of the affected areas
Photographs and panels show the progress of the disaster-stricken areas
The Asahi Shimbun Company (President and CEO: Masaru Tsunoda) will hold a photojournalism exhibition titled "Memories of the Lens." The exhibition will feature photographs that were published in the Asahi Shimbun evening edition, including images of the disaster-stricken areas immediately after the earthquake and the state of their subsequent recovery. Panels will also introduce the support efforts being made by the Asahi Shimbun Company and the sponsor, Mitsubishi Estate Tohoku Branch.
There is also an interview video with actor Ken Watanabe.
A video interview with actor Ken Watanabe will also be shown on the display screens at Venue. In an effort to support the recovery effort, he opened Café in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture in November 2013. After closing the shop at the end of last year, Watanabe spoke about his interactions with the people of the disaster-stricken areas, which he said "got him deeper and deeper into it."
