"UPOPOY FESTA 2026" to be held - "UPOPOY", a hub for the revival and creation of Ainu culture from Shiraoi Town, Hokkaido, will appear in Tokyo
A special stage where you can experience Ainu culture
At Maru Cube on the first floor, in addition to introducing the Upopoy program, there will be a special stage where visitors can experience Ainu culture through interactions with Upopoy staff, including singing and dancing, playing the traditional instrument Mukkuri, and playing rhythmic games in the Ainu language with the promotional mascot, Tureppon. Outdoors, you can also try your hand at archery.
Ainu cultural experience
In the 3rd floor corridor, you can try your hand at making embroidery and deer whistles. The tumus (wooden bells) used to make key chains are handmade by Upopoy staff. In addition to the craft experience, there are also craft exhibitions and demonstrations of embroidery and wood carving by Upopoy staff, allowing you to see Ainu craft techniques up close, as well as try on costumes and take commemorative photos.
Talk stage by Upopoy Honorary Ambassador Ukaji Tsuyoshi
Sun March 8th, from 13:30 to 13:50, there will be a talk stage featuring Upopoy Honorary Ambassador Ukaji Tsuyoshi, who will talk about his feelings towards Upopoy and Ainu culture.
