Daimaru-Yu SDGs ACT5 Symposium: [Thinking about food, hacking regional and urban ecosystems]

A new food ecosystem created by local communities and cities working together

As the infrastructure supporting local food supplies faces a major turning point, we will be holding the Daimaru-Yu SDGs ACT5 Symposium, "Thinking from Food: Hacking Local and Urban Ecosystems." We will consider how to design and implement a new ecosystem where cities and regions bring together resources, people, funds, and wisdom, creating a cycle of value for both sides. Regional producer/project designer Hima Furuta (umari Inc.) will moderate the discussion, bringing together experts from private companies, government, chefs, producers, and other fields.

Three talk sessions to consider sustainable regional development.

The talk session starting at 3:00 PM will cover three themes: "Who are the key players connecting cities and regions?", "Transforming social challenges into new value! The fusion of food and culture," and "What is the ecosystem of people, events, and money that connects cities and regions?". We will delve into various aspects of the players who connect regional resources and challenges to cities, the future of food culture and primary industries, the utilization of wild game, and the mechanisms and economic cycles that support sustainable regional revitalization.

Participants can enjoy game meat Cuisine and socialize with each other.

From 6:00 PM, we will hold a networking event where participants can sample game Cuisine supervised by Chef Okuda of "Al Checciano," Italian Cuisine restaurant in Shonai, Yamagata Prefecture. For urban workers, engaging with local communities can not only contribute to regional revitalization but also potentially lead to diverse working styles and well-being. Let's explore new relationships between local communities and cities, using food as a starting point.
