Uneven bronze

Renate Hoflite

1989/Bronze/Germany
Born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1950, he studied printmaking and sculpture at the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts. Her outdoor works focus on the local characteristics, distance, geological conditions, light and plants. The carefully polished bronze surface of this piece reflects the surrounding landscape. The concave surface reflects the landscape (Marunouchi Terrace) as an optically reduced inverted image, while the convex surface appears to absorb the landscape (road), presenting the deepest illusion at the highest point of its curvature. It was created with the intention of catching the sunlight and sparkling, incorporating the space within the work and becoming one with it.
