Renaissance

Kim Hamsky

1985/Bronze/Vietnam France
Born in North Vietnam in 1943. Hamsky's works are also held in collections such as the Center Pompidou in France. The work has a fantastical style that looks like the skin of a human face or a chair has been partially turned over. He specializes in wood carving, and his precise and delicate workmanship shows his outstanding skill. The curled-up scalp becomes hair and can also be used as a pillow, purifying the fine details, and the half-eyed expression reminiscent of a Noh mask gives off a dreamlike, surreal atmosphere.
