I'm a pumpkin

Yayoi Kusama

2013/Kuromikage/Japan
Pumpkin is Kusama's favorite motif. Although he has created many works so far, this is his first work made with stone carving. Kusama compares the relationship between the title, ``I am a pumpkin,'' and the stone used as the material, to her own theme of ``eternity.'' By layering pumpkins (Kusama herself) on a semi-permanent material (black granite), she breathed eternal life into her work.
